How Often Should I Get an Eye Exam?

Generally, adults should have an exam every year. Depending on your needs, we may recommend an adjusted exam schedule.Dilating eye drops allow the doctor to assess your inner eye. They may temporarily cause blurred vision, so consider arranging a ride home.

Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a technology we use to take a closer look at your eye health. . It creates a high-resolution, cross-sectional image of the retina, optic nerve, and other parts of the eye. This test can help in the early detection and management of several eye conditions:

  • Glaucoma
  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Abnormal or blocked blood vessels 

OCT scans are noninvasive and typically take about 5 minutes to complete. Each scan takes only a few seconds, though multiple scans may be performed or repeated if needed for optimal quality. Once finished, one of our doctors will review the results with you.
